Mike Moore [STATS]
Hometown: Calgary, Alberta

Mike started playing hockey on the street in front of his house with the older kids on his block and learned to skate in his backyard when his dad flooded the grass between the house and the garage. After growing up playing in Calgary, Mike moved out to South Surrey to play for the Eagles in the BCHL, where he earned a hockey scholarship to Princeton University.
After four years, Mike and his teammates were able to turn the Princeton hockey team around from the last place team to league champions. As team captain his senior year, Mike was awarded First Team All-American Honors. He was also named the ECAC Defensive Defenseman of the Year and was selected by his teammates as the recipient of the Class of 1941 trophy, awarded for winning spirit and inspiration. After graduating with a degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Mike signed a contract with the San Jose Sharks and is currently playing for their affiliate team in the AHL, the Worcester Sharks.
During his years at Princeton, Mike volunteered with the Princeton Youth Hockey Association; organized food and clothing drives for TASK with the student group, Princeton Canadians; and was an extremely active member of the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department (even posing shirtless for the calendar—axe in hand). Involvement with the Fire Department earned him the nickname “Chief” in Worcester, where he continues to donate time organizing holiday toy drives for children, as well as visiting area schools with Reading Is Cool and Be a Leader assemblies.
Mike was named Worcester’s 2009 Man of the Year for his committed community involvement. An annual HP4K event—Give Moore for the Holidays—was named after Mike in honor of his efforts. We’re proud to have him as an important part of HP4K.
