Darroll Powe [STATS]

Hometown: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Hockey Experience: Princeton University (2003-07); Philadelphia Phantoms, AHL (2006-09); Philadelphia Flyers, NHL (2008-10)

Born in Saskatoon, Darroll played minor hockey in Saskatchewan until a family move brought him to Kanata, Ontario. As a true freshman, Darroll began a successful college career at Princeton University that would eventually see him garner a team MVP trophy, two Vaughn Cups for Perseverance and Dedication, and three Strength and Conditioning awards. He served as team captain his senior year.

After graduating with a degree in Sociology, he signed with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL and again drew accolades as the team’s Unsung Hero and Most Coachable Player. In July 2008, Darroll signed with the Philadelphia Flyers and is currently enjoying his second successful season in the NHL. Check out NHL.com’s feature on Darroll by clicking here.

Darroll was an active member of the hockey community throughout college, where he spent time as a volunteer instructor with the Princeton Youth Hockey Association. Throughout his move to Philadelphia, he has continued to stay involved with youth hockey programs. He also participates in the Read Across America program and makes regular visits to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Darroll’s success is a testament to achievement through hard work. He is an excellent role model for kids of all ages.
