Brett grew up in Amherstburg, a small town in southwestern Ontario. After minor hockey, Brett moved on to play juniors for the Chatham Maroons, where he was recruited to play for Princeton University. Brett studied Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton and earned his degree in 2007. Brett spent most of his first professional season with the Iowa Stars of the AHL. This season, he signed with the New York Islanders and is playing for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
While at Princeton, Brett was inspired to take on a more active role in the community. He took a sabbatical from school and spent time volunteering in Ecuador, helping a small, mountain town install an irrigation system. Brett has also participated in countless community activities organized through his pro teams and HP4K. Brett’s intelligence and enthusiasm are vital in helping HP4K maximize its social impact.
